I don’t listen to that much punk full stop. This 6th issue of The Rebel Worker i s being produced in London, several. To be honest I don’t listen to that much German punk hardcore anymore. FR E E DO M : TH E O N LY CA U S E WORTH S E RV I N G. 1983: a watermark year for those in the punk industry seeing as how some deem it the year punk finally chucked its scribbled on leather jackets and 16 hole DM’s into the cupboard under the stairs. The surprise is that these eight tracks of shouty German hardcore punk mixed with 1930’s film samples, whipping vids and speeches had me wishing it was 1983 all over again. The surnames of German chancellors have always interested me, other favourites include the charismatic Willy Brandt and of course the redoubtable and first ever chancellor Otto Von Bismarck, a man whose surname translates as 'accident in your keks'. Since then I’ve always referred to him as Helmut Cabbage although I must admit that the opportunity to use this in conversation is somewhat limited now. 7” 4 track EP/DLĭiscovering that ex German Chancellor Helmut Kohl’s surname translated into English as ‘cabbage’ was a defining moment in my continuing education. Jens Uthoff von der taz rechnet sie zur Post-Punk-Renaissance in Deutschland, die diese Musikrichtung der 1980er Jahre aufgreift. Inhaltlich werden vorrangig Alltagssituationen aufgegriffen und in einen humoristischen Kontext gesetzt, jedoch mit dem Hang zum Wahnsinn und zur Depression. Musikalisch äußert sich die Band durch einen rauen, charakteristischen Gesang, schnelles Tempo und den Einsatz des Synthesizers und des Theremins.

Obwohl Pisse, im Gegensatz zu anderen Bands, nur wenig Internetpräsenz vorweist und sich generell eher rar macht, erfreut sie sich großer Beliebtheit. Sie ist innerhalb der Punk-Szene deutschlandweit bekannt. Pisse ist eine deutschsprachige Punkband, die im Jahr 2012 in Hoyerswerda gegründet wurde. Together with Puff! Pisse is rated as "snottier" and "sarcastic" than other such bands and compared to the fun punk of the band Die Goldenen Lemons. Jens Uthoff from the taz reckons it to be part of the post-punk renaissance in Germany, which picks up on this genre of music from the 1980s. In terms of content, everyday situations are primarily taken up and placed in a humorous context, but with a tendency towards madness and depression. Musically, the band expresses itself through rough, characteristic vocals, fast tempo and the use of the synthesizer and the theremin. Although Pisse, in contrast to other bands, has little internet presence and is generally rather rare, it enjoys great popularity. She is known throughout Germany within the punk scene.
